Newtown (NSW) punk rockers SCABZ New Single 'Feel Good Summer' ...a full-scale assault

Newtown’s self-proclaimed shittest band SCABZ have just revealed their striking new single ‘Feel Good Summer’ – produced and mixed by Daniel Antix at Defwolf Studios, Sydney.

Ringing feedback and pounding drums set the tone for SCABZ’s latest offering. The track wastes no time launching into a full-scale assault of raucous and gritty punk-rock, as singer and guitarist Siobhan Poynton belts out lyrics from the perspective of climate change deniers and the ridiculous points they make to justify their cause.

Poynton talks about the bands passionate stance on global warming:

There isn’t really an excuse to not care about climate change. We’re just at the point that we’ve realised nothing really matters if you’ve gone extinct”.

To coincide with the release, the band will traverse the East Coast on an eight-date tour, stopping by the Northern Beaches, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Canberra, Wollongong, Melbourne and of course, Newtown.

Northern Beaches quartet Down For Tomorrow energetic grunge-punk anthem "What Could Have Been"

Young and energetic Northern Beaches quartet Down For Tomorrow recently unveiled their latest grunge-punk anthem, ‘What Could Have Been’. The band honed their self-proclaimed “happy-sad Aussie grunge” sound growing up in the rich skating and surfing beaches community, and 'What Could Have Been’ sees them deliver their strongest and most all-encompassing work to date.

The track serves up a heartfelt, rough-around-the-edges statement, bursting with the kind of angst and raw emotion that wouldn't be out of place on a Vans Warped Tour stage. Opening with melancholic, even despondent vocals from lead singer Cody Stebbings, ‘What Could Have Been’ builds into a head-banging bridge that captures the frustration and heavier elements of their music.

Lead singer Cody Stebbings talks about the meaning behind ‘What Could Have Been’:

“'What Could Have Been' was written in a period where I was losing touch with many important friends, and I was just writing sad song after sad song and couldn't find any other release or a way to cover it up. It got to a point where I just realised, I've been wasting so much time trying to fix something that can’t be fixed, there’s no point desperately holding on to people who don’t want anything to do with you anymore. In the bridge, I wanted to leave a glimpse of hope at renewal, and help people see that we can all start over at some point.“

Since their inception, Down For Tomorrow have continually traversed the east coast of Australia, playing house parties, bars and all ages events. Over the last year they have supported other heavyweight Australian pop-punk bands such as Forever Ends Here, The Dead Love and Yours Truly.

Good-time indie rockers Crocodylus melt hearts in 'MY BABY' video

In an ode to old love, Crocodylus bring the romance in their new clip for 'My Baby'. Shot in the Cayonleigh Community Hall three hours outside of Sydney, the band pulled an all-nighter along with frequent collaborator Jamieson Kerr to create the heartbreaking clip. "Making the clip was fun as. We all went down to the Southern Highlands for a weekend and ended up filming at the location until about 4 in the morning," said Jamieson. "It was pretty full on but there’s always a lot of laughs hanging out with those guys!"

Singer Josh learnt choreography to the lovelorn story explaining "Mum always said I had loose hips for a boy and I used to do break dancing as a kid so I thought it was going to be a breeze but it ended up being difficult. But stoked how it turned out, Jamieson's a genius."

'My Baby' has been warmly received since its release with a swag of write-ups both locally and internationally, as well as the video premiering on triple j unearthed.

Ask anyone and they’ll tell you, there’s nothing quite like a Crocodylus gig. Through their prolific touring the rowdy trio has a reputation for a sweaty, rambunctiously good time, rightly earning them a legion of fans and support offers. In two short years they've played alongside Hockey Dad, The Lemon Twigs (USA), Skeggs, Dear Seattle, ORB and The Bennies whilst bringing their infectious antics to Sounds of the Suburbs and Sweaty Palms.

Melbourne-based Househats return with new single 'I've Been Broken' and tour dates

After releasing standout tracks ‘All Together’ and ‘Stop', Melbourne-based group Househats announce tour dates and their infectious new cut ‘I’ve Been Broken', lifted from their forthcoming debut record ‘Running Out Of Time’ (due late-2018).

Recorded and produced by Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs, Kita Alexander, Elliphant) and mixed by Michael Badger (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, IV League), ‘I’ve Been Broken’ channels the hook-laden production of Parquet Courts and Beck.

Drummer and vocalist Joshua De Laurentiis describes the motivation behind the song:

That underlying feeling of meaningless and dread bubbles over more than I’d care to admit, and this song sits right in that pocket – it’s 9am after you’ve been awake for 24-hours straight and you’re thinking, ‘Do I have a coffee…or a bloody mary?’”

To coincide with the release, Househats will hit the road again with shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle. Househats have previously performed at boutique festival By The Meadow alongside Stella Donnelly, Fazerdaze and Tiny Little Houses, and traversed the East Coast sharing stages with Good Boy, The Pretty Littles, The Gooch Palms and Donny Benet.

The band’s first singles ‘All Together’ and ‘Stop’ were widely embraced by the likes of triple j, triple j Unearthed, Double J, community radio stations FBi, 3RRR, 4ZZZ and 2SER, and worldwide tastemaker blogs We All Want Someone to Shout For (USA), Dansende Beren (EUR), Pilerats and Laundry Echo.

UPCOMING LIVE SHOWS:

SAT 30 JUN | NORTHCOTE SOCIAL CLUB, MELBOURNE VIC
SAT 7 JUL | WAYWARDS, SYDNEY NSW
SUN 8 JUL | THE CAMBRIDGE HOTEL, NEWCASTLE NSW

Melbourne-based indie-punk group Househats drop new party jam 'Stop'

Following on from their critically praised debut cut 'All Together', Melbourne-based indie-punk group, Househats, have just unveiled their new single 'Stop' - recorded and mixed by the same All Together team of Dan Caswell (Horace Bones, DIET.) and Michael Badger (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, IV League).

Taking cues from the trio's staple influences Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Omni and Parquet Courts, 'Stop' combines elements of garage-rock and post-punk, while also blending well-crafted pop sensibilities, that are sure to inspire many rowdy house party sing-a-longs.

Drummer Joshua De Laurentiis describes the motivation behind the track:

"Life can often just get away from you, and Stop is about really dialling back the hectic speed in this age of post-millennial malaise and trying to get yourself back on track"

Debut single 'All Together' was strongly supported across all of the triple j platforms (with high rotation on triple j unearthed and multiple spins on some of triple j's biggest programs Goodnights, 2017 with Richard Kingsmill, Home & Hosed) along with love from worldwide radio and tastemaker blogs.

They've shared stages with The Gooch Palms and Mike Noga (The Drones), and to coincide with this release, Househats will perform at Sydney Road Street Party, Cruisin' For A Boozin' and By The Meadow.
