After releasing standout tracks ‘All Together’ and ‘Stop', Melbourne-based group Househats announce tour dates and their infectious new cut ‘I’ve Been Broken', lifted from their forthcoming debut record ‘Running Out Of Time’ (due late-2018).
Recorded and produced by Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs, Kita Alexander, Elliphant) and mixed by Michael Badger (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, IV League), ‘I’ve Been Broken’ channels the hook-laden production of Parquet Courts and Beck.
Drummer and vocalist Joshua De Laurentiis describes the motivation behind the song:
“That underlying feeling of meaningless and dread bubbles over more than I’d care to admit, and this song sits right in that pocket – it’s 9am after you’ve been awake for 24-hours straight and you’re thinking, ‘Do I have a coffee…or a bloody mary?’”
To coincide with the release, Househats will hit the road again with shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle. Househats have previously performed at boutique festival By The Meadow alongside Stella Donnelly, Fazerdaze and Tiny Little Houses, and traversed the East Coast sharing stages with Good Boy, The Pretty Littles, The Gooch Palms and Donny Benet.
The band’s first singles ‘All Together’ and ‘Stop’ were widely embraced by the likes of triple j, triple j Unearthed, Double J, community radio stations FBi, 3RRR, 4ZZZ and 2SER, and worldwide tastemaker blogs We All Want Someone to Shout For (USA), Dansende Beren (EUR), Pilerats and Laundry Echo.
